| If you are just about to finish school, have just finished university, or simply want to do something different for God next year then the CYM Formation programme might be for you. It's a year of training and service in which you will be part of delivering CYM's programme working with youth and children whilst being equipped, trained and mentored. |
Why would I want to be on the Formation team?
- I love working with Young People and Children.

- I'd like to learn more about the Bible and get it from my head to my heart.

 "I looked forward to working with CYM and doing something other than studying but it didn't turn out the way I thought - luckily!! It has been fantastic so far to be a part of the CYM family, the prayer time in the morning, the fun around the kitchen sink and the training sessions on Wednesdays. The schools work has been great watching people develop through the year and knowing that you help them on the way is just indescribable. African Adventure hasn't’t just taught the children, but also me so much about team building and working together. Elevate and Platform have also been very good for my drama skills, on and off stage." - Line |

 "I have had lots of interesting experiences and learnt a fantastic amount during my time here. I really enjoy the African Adventure residential programmes and love to be with the children. Their excitement is really contagious and I love sharing their fun during the week. I have appreciated the training programme aspect of the Gap Year. It has been valuable teaching and really helpful. I have enjoyed expanding my (limited) knowledge of youth work and theology. Throughout the year I have realised how much I have learnt through all the things I have done and I am looking forward to the next part of my Gap Year!"

| As part of the Formation Gap Year Team you will automatically be enrolled on the Formation Training Course. Our training course will equip you with knowledge and skills that you put into practice throughout your gap year and beyond! We hope that you will stretch yourself and grow in your understanding, capability and confidence through the things we teach you.
The Training Course will include...
- Spiritual Formation:Gain an understanding of the elements of a balanced Christian life. You will be challenged and inspired through teaching, personal study and discussion with other team members, to grow closer to God, to live a life that brings him glory, and to be able to better disciple others.
- Skills Based Training: Practical study of issues related to working with children and young people will give you the skills to creatively teach a variety of age ranges.
- Leadership: We want to help train you in order that you might impact your generation, by challenging you to become a more reflective servant leader. You will gain insight into various key leadership elements and discover your own leadership style and potential.
- Theology: We want you to have a good basis for evaluating all you hear from an evangelical perspective.
