Chaplaincy
Working in schools and their surrounding communities to provide spiritual and pastoral support.
WHAT IS SCHOOL
CHAPLAINCY?

CYM chaplains provide safe spaces for students and staff to explore who they are and how they are developing. Chaplains create opportunities for spiritual development and exploration as well as supporting the wellbeing of the whole school community. They are based in primary and secondary schools, colleges and alternative provision settings
HOW DOES IT
WORK

Each chaplaincy is tailored to meet the needs of their specific school, meaning no two chaplaincies look the same! There are lots of overlapping features though. Chaplains care for students' wellbeing with 1:1 support and mentoring, groups (including interest or faith-based groups, Kintsugi Hope Wellbeing courses and more). A really key element of chaplaincy is presence. You'll often find our chaplains out and about in their schools: a friendly face on the gate, building relationships in the cafeteria or supporting students who struggle to get into lessons.
WHY IS IT WORTH
IT?

We know that in many schools, behaviour is challenging, students are struggling with their mental health like never before, and staff are feeling the pressure! School Chaplaincy brings a holistic focus to wellbeing, providing support and interventions that respond to these challenges. A CYM School Chaplain works to enrich the lives of everyone within the school community.

At Basecamp, our passion is to see children grow in their sense of self, to boost their self-esteem and gain a greater sense of who they are and their place in the wider world.
